Business Need

Our client is a leading refrigerated trucking company in North America. With a fleet of over 15000 refrigerated trucks, the company has been at the forefront of providing cutting-edge supply chain solutions to its customers dealing in Perishable Goods, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Tobacco, Fine Art, and Personal Care Products.

With the onslaught of Covid-19, the client had to relook and reinvent their order taking, pickup, and delivery processes to ensure safe deliveries in a completely contactless manner. The client worked on new delivery strategies by leveraging new technological advances in the logistics industry including cold chain equipment, delivery drones, App-based order taking, billing, and OTP-based delivery notifications and verifications to keep their team and customers safe without disrupting the business and provide life-saving deliveries to the people affected by the virus. Revised SOPs have been rolled out for Employee Health and Safety in COVID-19 times, HAZMAT, HVAC Operations, Truck Handling and Prioritization, Perishable goods, Medicines Handling and Contact Less Digital Order Taking, etc.

These sudden changes in how business gets conducted in the new normal required a massive reskilling program for their 28000 strong workforce.

KS Solution

KS’s Team comprising Supply Chain and Performance Experts had their task cut out to quickly evaluate and understand the revised client SOPs and put together a comprehensive roadmap for effective training on these new SOPs.

Due to the paucity of time and budget constraints, the KS curriculum strategy underlined the need for a solution that emphasizes learning by doing and is quick to develop and distribute. Out of many possible solutions, we opted for Interactive PDFs distributed through client LMS that could be consumed on any device.

The Interactive PDF started with a one-page comparison of old SOPs vs New SOPs, mostly in an infographic and visual manner. It was followed by the client’s Process Experts’ self-mobile recorded SOP demonstration video explaining how to accomplish the task by following the new SOPs. Those videos were called into the interactive PDFs through a streaming server to avoid heavier PDF files for a seamless experience. Post the demonstration video, an assessment was provided in the PDF wherein the learner could either type in and save the response or record their video and upload it on the company’s private cloud server and embed a link in the PDF for evaluation by the supervisor.

Post training, cohorts have been created on the company’s WhatsApp account to push job aids, get just-in-time support from peers, and share experiences in this socially distant new normal.
